Started with the trumpet in FDF

For Maria, it started with the music when she joined the FDF-scouts through her good friends and their parents.

Maria Badstue started her conductor studies under Jorma Panula

She graduated in 2014 from the Norwegian Academy of Music after studies under Ole Kristian Ruud and Jukka Pekka Saraste. In 2013, she made her debut with the Copenhagen Phil and has subsequently worked with Odense Symphony Orchestra, Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, South Jutland Symphony Orchestra, Storstrøms Symphony Orchestra and Hämeenlinna City Orchestra. In 2015, she was assistant conductor for Michael Boder at the Wiener Staatsoper’s performance of Hindemith’s Cardillac

The same year

she conducted John Frandsen’s A Doll’s House with Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen. In 2015/16, she conducts Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Oltenia Philharmonic, the Danish National Opera, Concert Hall Aarhus and Orkester MidtVest. She has attended master classes with Bernhard Haitink and Lucerne Festival Strings and has worked with Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, the Nordic Youth Orchestra and Cikada Ensemble.

Scholarship

The scholarship of DKK 60,000 is to be used for studies and attendance at rehearsals in Stockholm, London and Berlin with Sakari Oramo, Esa Pekka Salonen and Daniel Barenboim.
