Léonie Sonning Talent Prize 2013

Ingrid Meidell Noodt has assisted in The Royal Danish Orchestra, The Copenhagen Philharmonic, DR UnderholdningsOrkestret, Aalborg Symphony Orchestra and Västerås Sinfonietta. In 2011 she won 2nd prize as well as the jury’s special prize in the Danish Radio P2 Chamber Music Competition together with the wind quintet Mazvila Winds.

In 2012 she was solo clarinettist in the newly started Orchestra NoVe, a collaborative orchestra between Norway and El Sistema in Venezuela. Later that year she gained the position of solo clarinettist in the Swedish Chamber Orchestra in Örebro, Sweden.

Biography

Ingrid Meidell Noodt (b. 1989) grew up in Oslo. She started to play the clarinet at the age of 11, and from 2004 was taught by Fredrik Fors at the Young Talents department of the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo. In 2007 she was a prizewinner at the Youth Music Championship in Solo and Chamber Music. From 2008 onwards, she studied at The Royal Danish Academy of Music under Søren Elbo and John Kruse. She gained her BA in 2011. That same year she was awarded the Betty og Valdemar van Hauen prize and in that connection was soloist with Kammerorkestret Arco. Alongside her studies, she has taken part in master classes with, among others, Martin Fröst, Andreas Sundén, Yehuda Gilad, Pascal Moragues and Bruno Martinez.

Forthcoming activities

Recording of Schubert’s 6th symphony and Rosamunde ballet music with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra under Thomas Dausgaard (to be issued in March 2013).

Concerts with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra in 2013/2014 in Örebro, Stockholm, and tours to Germany, France (Paris), Spain, Copenhagen as well as a USA/Canada tour which includes a concert at the Lincoln Center in New York.

Scholarship from the Léonie Sonning Music Foundation

Ingrid Meidell Noodt has received a scholarship of DKK 60,000.

The scholarship is to be used for repairs and maintenance of clarinets as well as expenses in connection with a study trip and master classes with Yehuda Gilad in Europe and USA.
