Kirsten Voss Petersen

LÉONIE SONNING TALENT PRIZE 2024

Kirsten Voss Petersen (born in 1995 in Silkeborg) started attending baby rhythmics classes when she was just six months old. At the age of six, Kirsten joined a children’s choir, and from the age of 11, when she began classical singing lessons, she knew she wanted to become an opera singer. Fortunately, that dream has come true.

She completed her bachelor’s, master’s, and soloist education in classical singing at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, and she is now a member of several adult ensembles, including Ensemble Edge. In addition, Kirsten has been a Young Artist at Søholm Opera, worked as an intern as a practical assistant at Opera Lab Berlin, and participated in the Britten/Pears Young Artist program for Composition, Alternative Performance, and Performance Art.

The funds accompanying the Léonie Sonning Talent Prize will be used for weekend courses in expanded vocal technique, musical coaching, engaging a mentor for production skills, a trip to New York for collaboration and workshops with composer Elizabeth Gartman. Additionally, a portion will be allocated for monthly attendance at concerts, performances, and festivals in Denmark.
