Elise Busch-Madsen

LÉONIE SONNING TALENT PRIZE 2024

Elise Busch-Madsen, born in 2002 and raised in Slangerup, has been closely associated with the flute since she started school. Initially, she spent six years playing the recorder before transitioning to the transverse flute. The flute has been Elise’s sanctuary since childhood, and today, she plays, among other ensembles, with the wind quintet Cumulus Quintet, with whom she won the 1st prize at the Nordic Wind Competition in Oslo in 2023.

Currently, she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in flute at the Royal Danish Academy of Music under the guidance of Ulla Miilmann, while also receiving instruction from renowned flutists such as Phillipe Bernold, Aldo Baerten, Carlo Jans, Tom Ottar Andreassen, and Mario Caroli. In addition, she has participated in masterclasses in Poland, Norway, Spain, and France, while also performing with KUSO (Copenhagen Youth Symphony Orchestra), DUSIKA (Capital Region Youth Symphony Orchestra), and SASO (St. Annæ Symphony Orchestra).

The money accompanying the Léonie Sonning Talent Prize will be spent on an exchange year abroad.
