Frederik Rolin

Léonie Sonning Talent Prize 2016

Frederik Rolin (b. 1988) was taught by Kirsten Buhl Møller at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and is now studying at the Opera Academy in Copenhagen. He has appeared in Ravel’s opera L’enfant et les Sortileges at RDAM and has sung the role of Schaunard in La Bohème at Opera Frederiksberg. In the summer of 2013, he sang the role of Baron Douphol in La Traviata. In 2014/15, he was the merman in Hilda Sehested’s Agnete and the Merman, soloist in Fauré’s Requiem in Malmö and sang the role of Fyrst Yamadori in the Royal Danish Theatre’s Madame Butterfly on tour. Frederik Rolin has several times performed as bas soloist in Springtime in Funen (Fynsk Forår), and in 2015 he sang the role of Angelotti in Tosca with GuidOpera. He has also performed with songs by Carl Nielsen at numerous concerts. In 2016, he will appear at Aalborg Opera Festival, Klassisk Lillesand, Opera på Stranden, GuidOpera’s performance of Rigoletto and in Messiah in Malmö.

Scholarship

The scholarship of DKK 60,000 is to be used for singing and coaching lessons with Malcolm Martineau and Fiona Macsherry in England and for participating in the course North Sea Vocal Academy.
