Henrik Budde

Léonie Sonning Talent Prize 2014

(b. 1982) studied composition at The Royal Academy of Music Aarhus/Aalborg under Karl Aage Rasmussen, Hans Abrahamsen, Simon Steen-Andersen (2007-12) and in the soloist class at Norges Musikkhøgskole under Lasse Thoresen and Simon Steen-Andersen (2012-14). He also has a qualification in musicology and has taken private teaching in orchestral conducting. Henrik Budde has had works performed by ensembles such as Aarhus Sinfonietta, Budapest Symphony Orchestra, Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich, DR UnderholdningsOrkestret and Esbjerg Ensemble. He has also composed music for films and TV and been involved in works in the crossover area between drama/theatre and performance art. In addition, he has also conducted choirs, ensembles and orchestras.

Scholarship

The scholarship of DKK 60,000 will be used for a study trip to Los Angeles to study under the composer Jack Smalley (USC Thornton School of Music) and the orchestrator Conrad Pope as well as to acquire computer equipment and programmes for recording and processing sound and video.
