Léonie Sonning Talent Prize 2016

Jacob la Cour (b. 1988) was admitted to the Royal Academy of Music Aarhus/Aalborg, RAMA, under Henrik Brendstrup. Three years later, he continued his studies at Claudio Bohórquez in Berlin and was thereafter admitted to Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover under Tilmann Wick. Here, he finished his studies in 2014. In 2013, Jacob la Cour was co-founder of the piano trio, Trio Vitruvi, which won the 1st price and the audience award in the P2 Chamber Music Competition 2014 and the 1st price in Jūrmala International Music Competition. 

The trio studies chamber music under Hatto Beyerle, viola player with the Alban Berg Quartet, and under Jérôme Pernoo at École Normale de Musique Alfred Cortot in Paris. Trio Vitruvi has also been admitted to ECMA, European Chamber Music Academy. Jacob la Cour has been a soloist with various orchestras, most recently with Trio Vitruvi in Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with Ádám Fischer and the Danish National Chamber Orchestra.

Scholarship

The scholarship of DKK 60,000 is to be used for study projects with Trio Vitruvi in Paris and for the trio’s participation in international competitions in 2016.
