A teacher lured Lea Quortrup away from jazz with a CD by Wunderlich

Lea Quortrup (b. 1987) graduated from the Royal Academy of Music Aarhus/Aalborg

RAMA, in 2011, and studied from 2012-15 at the Opera Academy in Copenhagen under Kirsten Buhl-Møller. Throughout her study, she has attended master classes with Barbara Bonney, Bo Skovhus, Helmut Deutsch and Roger Vignoles. In 2014, she made her debut at the Royal Danish Theatre in the role as Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. She has given concerts in many connections and performed as a soloist in Mozart’s Requiem with the Danish National Chamber Orchestra and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with Sokkelund Chamber Choir and Leipzig Chamber Orchestra. In the autumn of 2015, she was staying in Rome to study the Bel Canto repertoire and learn Italian.

Scholarship

The scholarship of DKK 60,000 is to be used for continued studies under Kirsten Buhl-Møller and for an intensive Italian course in Rome.
